Twilio is a service that provides development tools, an API to be more specific, that make it possible to build systems capable of sending and receiving text messages, routing phone calls, creating call trees, and accept voicemail messages — just to name a few. What makes Twilio stand out is that it can communicate with your website or web app allowing you to add another dimension to user communication and interaction.

Ricochet can build applications that send and receive SMS text messages using phone numbers or short codes (ie: Text "VOTE" to 50505). For example, you could send SMS package delivery notifications, text all employees when schedules change or page diners once their table is ready.

Twilio can perform simple tasks such as initiating a phone call with the click of a mouse, but is powerful enough to manage an entire call center. For example by integrating with an existing CRM system, calls can be queued and route to employees and conversations can be recorded and stored in the cloud.
